Gospel: Matthew 25:31-46 “Truly I say to you: just as you did not do it for one of the least of these, you did not do it for me” - Matthew 25:40 The LEAST,LAST,LOST of our brothers and sisters are those most vulnerable. They are the socially, psychologically, economically challenged. Mindfulness enables one to see, hear, feel the cry of the poor. This passage is the foundation of the Works of Mercy. What did you do to the least of these? How about this : Lent Challenge - 40 acts of mercy in 40 days . #PrayVD

Daily Guidelines: March 10, 2019March 10, 2019 - Sunday
Gospel: Luke 4:1-13 "Jesus was led by the Spirit for forty days in the wilderness." We have all experienced the “wilderness”, those moments in our life where we search for hope and meaning. Oftentimes these are the moments of suffering and it is normal to ask, “when will the wilderness end?” Today, Jesus enters His own wilderness with a different question, “who am i entering the wilderness with?” The Spirit was with Jesus in this experience of temptation and difficulty and helped Him stay true to His mission. When all seems lost, it helps to remember that our Lord has “been there, done that” and that He leads us thru everything. Lord, thank You that You guide us thru our wilderness experience. Help us always trust in Your unfailing love. #PrayVD

Daily Guidelines: March 9, 2019March 9, 2019 - Saturday
Gospel: Luke 5:27-32 "I have not come to call the righteous." Levi must have been so surprised when Jesus met him during his daily grind and invited him to conversion. We ourselves must listen to Jesus’ call in our daily life. There are many things He could possibly tell us. Such as what mission He is calling us to do. Or tell us to put our life in order by turning away from sin. Or even just that we’ve neglected our relationship with Him. Not any one of us is righteous but we are made righteous when we hear God’s call and answer it. What is Jesus trying to tell you today? Lord, please give us ears and hearts to listen attentively to you. #PrayVD

Daily Guidelines: March 8, 2019March 8, 2019 – Friday
Gospel: Matthew 9:14-15 “When the bridegroom is taken away from them, then they will fast.” There is a time and a place for every purpose under heaven, so goes a classic song. A time to laugh, a time to weep. A time to feast, a time to fast. The disciples could not yet understand what Jesus’ passion and death meant and that is why they would mourn. In the perfect purpose and timing of God, they would understand and rejoice in due time. Regardless, there is always a need for fasting in our life, that we may know that God is ever faithful and that we may depend on Him whether it is time for feasting or fasting. Lord, we remember You today as we fast and abstain. #PrayVD

Daily Guidelines: March 7, 2019March 7, 2019 – Thursday
Gospel: Luke 9:22-25 “Take up your cross daily and follow Christ.” What is your idea of a cross? It can certainly be something that is a big challenge, done with great difficulty or suffering. But it may also mean something not very dramatic. Even small acts of love, of sacrifice, of generosity can become “crosses”. But the important word there is “daily”. To follow Christ is to commit everyday to doing small acts of love and kindness and sacrifice for the sake of others. Lord, help us to carry our big and small crosses everyday, the same way You help us carry our crosses. #PrayVD

Daily Guidelines: March 6, 2019March 6, 2019 – Wednesday
Gospel: Matthew 6:1-6, 16-18 Ash Wednesday “When you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret.” What is your memory of prayer? When I was very young, there was a time I got into a fight in school. That night I prayed very hard, imploring God that my parents wouldn’t be upset. Today is the start of Lent, a time of personal journeying with Christ in His passion. It is a journey that can only be made by earnest prayer, in secret where it is only between God and you. We know that when prayer is sincere and truthful, there doesn’t need to be an audience. God alone suffices. God granted my prayer that night. My parents forgave me, just as God stands ready to accept us when we pray to Him. Lord, we look forward to journeying in prayer with you this Lenten season. #PrayVD

Daily Guidelines: March 5, 2019March 5, 2019 – Tuesday
Gospel: Mark 10:28-31 “We have left everything and followed you.” In our life, it’s important to know where to invest. This does not necessarily mean financial investment. We decide, for example, to invest our time and effort in doing something we find important. We do this because we look forward to the end result of this investment. The disciples made the biggest investment of all: everything they had. Because they knew that to be part of God’s Kingdom was greater than anything they can own. What about you? Lord, thank You for inviting us to invest ourselves in the Kingdom. #PrayVD

Daily Guidelines: March 4, 2019March 4, 2019 – Monday
Gospel: Mark 10:17-27 “And Jesus looking at him, loved him.” In my childhood, I recall how often my parents would encourage me whenever I was disheartened. It wasn’t just because they wanted me to succeed, but because they believed and hoped in me. Today Jesus meets a rich young man who wanted very much to follow Him but was attached to his worldly life. Yet Jesus hoped in this young man despite knowing beforehand how we would respond. Jesus extends that same hope and confidence in each of us today. How will we respond? Lord, thank You for never giving up in us. May Your faithfulness give us courage to respond with the same faith. #PrayVD

Daily Guidelines: March 3, 2019March 03, 2019 – Sunday
Gospel: Luke 6:39-45 “A good person out of the store of goodness in his heart produces good, but an evil person out of store in his heart produces evil; for from the fullness of one’s heart , the mouth speaks.” Have you also experienced judging others too quickly and later on realizing that truly we do have that wooden beam in our own eyes that we missed to see? Today, when we see something negative or annoying in the other, let’s pause first and do a self-check. Then maybe we will realize, we are all the same, we all make mistakes and what we need to do is to focus first on planting good in ourselves so that good can come out of us too. #PrayVD

Daily Guidelines: March 2, 2019March 02, 2019 – Saturday
Gospel: Mark 10:13-16 “Let the children come to me; do not prevent them, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these.....” The Lord here speaks of the innocence and simplicity of children, that we need to be like them, openhearted, totally dependent on the Father. We don’t begrudge the Lord when He doesn’t answer our prayers, we still run to Him when we are in need. We continue to trust Him, follow whatever He tells us to do, happy just to be with Him. Isn’t that so sweet?!! Let us enjoy this day with our Father. #PrayVD |
