Gospel: Mt 14: 22-36 Pray and take courage! Naturally, we fear being in a boat when we know it will sink. In our gospel today, Jesus’ disciples experienced the toss and turn while being inside a boat. In this season we are in, our life could be like that. We face different things daily which can make our boat possibly sink or shaken. Jesus teaches us to put our trust to God the Father in living our daily struggles. He reminds us that our weapon is to pray like Him and be courageous by the trials we encounter daily in our lives. Mama Mary, we pray that we may have an open and courageous heart like Jesus. Amen. #PrayVD

Gospel: Matthew 14:13–21 God provides In today’s Gospel, we hear the notable miracle of Jesus feeding the five thousand and of course included is the scene of panic of the disciples before the miracle. In real life, we tend to panic in trying to suffice the little that we have in the most that we need. But God is always with us ready to fill in such insufficiencies. He is always ready to provide us our needs. The key attitude is trust. May we always find ourselves trustful to the ways of God. #PrayVD

Gospel: Matthew 14:1–12 Courage to Speak the Truth Today’s Gospel narrates how John the Baptist was persecuted and executed by king Herod due to the latter’s act of proclaiming the truth. During this critical time when people are being persecuted in speaking the truth, it is inevitable to feel disheartened in seeing the wicked stomp on the righteous. But God always stands with the righteous and He gives life to the truthful. Let us always hold on to the faith that we have and never be discouraged in proclaiming the truth. #PrayVD

Gospel: Matthew 13:54–58 A Welcoming Home In today’s Gospel, Jesus was not welcomed in His hometown and was unable to perform miracles due to its people’s lack of faith. Someone who wishes to see the miracles of Jesus must open his heart and in turn, the Lord will make home in it and perform His marvelous works. Today’s Gospel invites us to be the home that welcome’s Jesus in our lives as we yearn to experience more of His loving miracles. Let us ask Mother Mary to teach us how to open our hearts to Jesus. #PrayVD

Gospel: Matthew 13:47–53 How righteous are we? In today’s Gospel, Jesus told again a parable pertaining to separating the wicked and the righteous at the end of age – the Parable of the Net. It’s always a mystery to think that Jesus was persecuted by people who consider themselves as good and righteous as they fulfill their religious obligations and on the other hand, was accepted by people who do the opposite. Such realization opens one’s heart in evaluating how one could be so foolish into thinking that he belongs to the good and would be saved when harvesting comes. May we be conscious also in our deeds as we aim to be righteous in the eyes of God. #PrayVD

Gospel: John 11:19–27 Believe and Live Today as we celebrate the feast day of Saint Martha, we are invited to have that same conviction of hers in believing in Jesus. And to believe in Jesus means to lay one’s life to Him. Saint Martha may have displayed lack of faith at times, but she fully believes in the power of Jesus. May we have that faithful heart that hears the assuring words of Jesus and fully believes in Him. #PrayVD

Gospel: Matthew 13:36–43 The Righteous and the Wicked The world is not for the righteous for they truly belong to the Kingdom of Heaven. God did not intend for us, His beloved people, to live with the evil but He longs for us to endure its wickedness as we live through our lives. It may be disheartening for us to keep our sanity and goodness as we live in a society where wickedness prevails but God continues to assure us of His love and mercy through His perfect timing. Let us allow God to strengthen us in times when we are challenged to live out the righteousness of our faith. #PrayVD

Gospel: Matthew 13:31–35 The Simple Things In today’s Gospel, Jesus told the parables of the Mustard Seed and the Yeast in proclaiming the Kingdom of Heaven to the crowd. God’s love is revealed to us through marvelous ways that He intends for us to achieve His kingdom through simple things. Today, Jesus is inviting us to make the most out of the simple things that we do by aiming to be pleasant in the loving gaze of God. Let us ask Mother Mary to teach us how to live a life pleasing in the eyes of God. #PrayVD

Mt 20:20-28 “The Son of man did not come to be served but to serve and give His life” The gospel is telling to us that Jesus our God has come to us to serve; and followers of Jesus are also meant to serve. Jesus gives us the gift of service so that we may see the joy it brings to us. Imagine the joy brought us by serving our loved ones -- the joy when we reach out to others. As followers of Jesus, let us pray with the acts of service Jesus did to all of us. Can you imagine how much joy Jesus has when He serves us with love? In our following of Jesus, we are invited to strive to be in service so that we may experience the joy it will bring to us. Holy Spirit, grant us the strength so that we may be able to serve others with love and be fulfilled with joy that service will bring to us. #PrayVD |
