Gospel: Luke 9:43b–45 "The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into human hands." (cf. Luke 9:44) Today’s Gospel narrates to us the attitude of the disciples afraid to accept the prophesied suffering of the Christ. Though suffering is inevitable, people would always find ways to avoid it. But these sufferings are the cross that we are entrusted to carry with a hope that salvation would surely come after. Let us have the courage to carry the cross of our humanity and have hope for the goodness that it will bring in our life. #PrayVD

Gospel: Luke 9:18–22 Who is Jesus to you? Every one of us has their own personal knowing of Jesus and this personal knowing is formed through frequent encounter with Him in one’s life. Today let us reflect on how much we know Jesus in our life and discern that there is more for us to know about Him. May we take this discernment also as an invitation to give more time on praying and conversing with Him. Amen. #PrayVD

Gospel: Luke 9:7–9 Have you only heard of Jesus or do you personally know Him? In the Holy Mass, we are able to hear about Jesus through the Gospel, witness His passion through the consecration of bread and wine and receive Him through the communion. Though we encounter Him in this celebration, this isn’t the only moment for us to be with Him. Today’s Gospel inspires us to give more effort in knowing Jesus personally and not only settle with hearing about Him. It is through deepening in our prayer life that we are able to encounter Him more personally. Let us have the desire to know Jesus more as we give more time in our prayer life. #PrayVD

Gospel: Luke 9:1–6 "And he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal." (cf. Luke 9:2) As we journey in our Christian life, it is inevitable for us to look at the people we encounter and recognize the needs in their life – be it healing or words to live by. And when mercy eventually moves us, then comes the compassion to act and help. In today’s Gospel, Jesus is sending us as well-equipped missionaries ready to partake in His ministry for the people. May we have the courage to take the step into mission, ready to help the people in need. #PrayVD

Gospel: Luke 8:19–21 True Family Today, Jesus is inviting us to be His true family by hearing the word of God and acting on it. As Christians, the act of following Jesus is also an act of walking with Him as His brothers and sisters, helping Him carry the cross of our salvation. May we be true family of Jesus as we live our faith in our daily lives. #PrayVD

Gospel: Luke 8:16–18 "...so that those who enter may see the light." (cf. Luke 8:16) Our society at present is in dire need of seeing the light of truth as it is being blinded by deceptions through fake news. And Jesus, in today’s Gospel, is calling us to live out the truth so that others “may see the light”. Let us have a moment to reflect on the things that we share to others and be reminded with a sense of truthfulness as we express our lives through words that we say. May we be like Saint Pio of Pietrelcina, who faithfully lived out the truth in his life. #PrayVD

Gospel: Lk 16:1-13 “The true master” We are reminded again by this gospel that we cannot serve two masters. In our journey, from time to time we have to choose between two masters. Will it be our God of love or our selfish desires. In this time of prayer, we are invited to sense deeply the love of God so that we may always choose the loving master and always follow the ways of loving. Lord, make us the instrument of your love so that others may feel it and may serve you the true master of love. #PrayVD

Gospel: Mt 9:9-13 “God’s message is for all” In this gospel, Jesus is in the table again to eat with the tax collectors and sinners. The pharisees saw and asked the disciples why Jesus eats with the sinners. This act of Jesus shows to us that His word should be heard not only by the righteous but also the sinners. We preachers of the word are called to share God’s word also to those who really needs it. Holy Spirit grant us the courage and wisdom to share the word especially to those who really needs it. #PrayVD

Gospel: Lk 8:1-3 “Jesus sets us free” The gospel describes the people who journeyed with Jesus. Those who were freed from evil. This shows us that following and journeying with Christ is the true freedom. We are invited to seek this true freedom and start journeying with Jesus. Mother Mary, may you teach and show us the beauty of following and journeying with Jesus. #PrayVD

Gospel: Luke 15:1–32 Mercy beyond compare Each of us in some way or at some point in time becomes lost. Today's Gospel shows that God never gives up looking for us; no matter how far we go away from Him like a lost sheep, He gently seeks for us and brings us back to himself. God's mercy for us is beyond compare that He overlooks our faults and failures. Let us ask for the grace to be merciful that we may also give mercy to those who are lost. #PrayVD |
