Gospel: Matthew 11:20–24 Change your ways. In today's Gospel, people do not believe despite hearing the Good News and witnessing the miracles of Jesus. Repentance demands a change of heart and a way of life. Today, Jesus reminds us that as we repent and change our ways, we will be saved from the destruction of our soul from all our sins and all our wrong doings. #PrayVD

Gospel: Matthew 10:34–11:1 "Take up your cross and follow me." Jesus in today's Gospel challenges us to know who we love first and foremost. And a true disciple loves God above all else and is willing to forsake all for the sake of Jesus Christ. He insists that we must take up our cross even if this means the possibility of our family and friends becoming our enemies, with the thought of them keeping us from doing what we know God wants us to do. Mother Mary, teach us how to put God first in all that we do. Amen #PrayVD

Gospel: Luke 10:25-37 “Who is my neighbour?” Lk 10: 29 This question has been asked many times. Not because we do not know it, rather Jesus challenges us a bit further in our capacity to love. Ask yourself, “where do I find myself being stretched”? The prayer of Jabez invites and encourages us - “Oh that you would bless and expand my territory. Please be with me in all that I do and keep me from trouble and pain.” -1Chronicles 4:10 Yes, increase our capacity to love and impact to our community! Mama Mary, help us to be sensitive and to be responsive to the need of my neighbours. Amen. #PrayVD

Gospel: Matthew 10:24-33 God taking notice In this gospel Jesus continues to elaborate the cost to following him. Yet he gives us this assurance of God’s concern for humanity and his creation . “Do not be afraid”, God reminding us again that we can face all trials without fear, trusting in his care and protection. He is Omnipresent, nothing escapes from him. Mama Mary, we ask for the grace to overcome our fear and to trust God at all times. Amen. #PrayV

Gospel: Matthew 10:16-23 “Be clever as snakes and innocent as doves” Mt 10:16 In sending out the twelve disciples, Jesus said to them, “I am sending you like a sheep among wolves. You must be clever as snakes and innocent as doves” Two symbolism with contrasting imagery. The world then and as now are still hostile to Christians. As we carry-out missions, Jesus said we must be wise as snake (emulating the shrewdness in a good way) and be innocent (not gullible) as dove. St Paul in his missions also modelled this character, discerning at all times so as not to jeopardise his ministry. Always in good conscience with God. Gentle and not pushover, giving without being taken advantage. Shrewd and assertive for he knows his rights and the truth! Holy Spirit, we come to you for the gift of wisdom, gentleness and kindness. To live a balance between being a serpent or dove as the situations calls for it in our daily missions. Amen! #PrayVD

Gospel: Matthew 10:7-15 “The Kingdom of Heaven is near” Jesus reminds the disciples to give freely one’s time, talent and treasure as have received. To give generously to others, knowing that many will be benefited in one’s giving. And to trust fully in the divine providence and love of God. Mama Mary help us to place all our hope and trust in Jesus for his generosity is never outdone. #PrayVD

Gospel: Matthew 10:1-7 “Jesus sent these twelve on mission” Matthew 10:5 Jesus summoned the twelve and gave them authority.. and instructed them to go to the lost sheep. Here we see that when God calls, he equips, prepares us and guide us all the way. Most often, our mission place is where we are planted. Pray for the people around you - Family, Work Place , Community. Someone is waiting to be listened to and comforted. Mama Mary, we pray for mindfulness in the midst where we are planted to recognised when, where to whom we are called. Amen! #PrayVD

Gospel: Matthew 9:32-38 “He was moved with pity” Mt 9:36 We continue to see Jesus going through all the cities and towns teaching, healing all kinds of diseases and sickness. He is deeply moved by compassion seeing the need of the people . Turning to his disciples he said, “The harvest is abundant, but the workers are few.” The same is true today. Despite the modernisation of society, more people are lost, confused. We are once again reminded of our call, to help people encounter the truth and love only God can give. It is our vocation. Mama Mary we come to you, show us the way . What, where , whom is my vocation ? Let us continue to pray for the “expansion of our tent” #Pray VD

Gospel: Matthew 9:18-26 ““If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed” Matthew 9:21 These are the very words we say before we partake the Eucharist. Remember the Roman Centurion who sought Jesus for help: Jesus marvelled at his faith and so HE said, “Go; be it done for you as you have believed.” And that same faith gave courage to the haemorrhaging woman to touch Jesus' cloak and she got healed! This prayer is an expression of our own faith as we approach Jesus each time in the Eucharist. For we believe that Jesus is our Divine Healer and we need spiritual healing. What a beautiful reminder as we come to mass! Let’s approach Jesus now with fervent prayer and claim our gift of healing! Mother Mary, teach us to increase our faith! And to say to the Lord, “You are my refuge, my fortress, my healer! In you I trust ! Amen !” #PrayVD

Gospel: Luke 10:1-12, 17-20 “Rejoice because your names are written in heaven.” – cf Luke 10:20 Today’s gospel is about Jesus sending out his disciples as ‘laborers for His harvest.’ He gives them specific instructions on what to bring, warns them about the dangers along the way and how to approach different kinds of people. The disciples came home rejoicing for the accomplishments they have done in His name. How great must they’ve felt during those times! May we, who are today’s modern disciples, be able to contemplate on the same joy the mission brings. And as Jesus assured His disciples, may we cherish the reward of our names being ‘written in heaven’ as well. #PrayVD |
