Gospel: Mark 7:24-30 "You may go your way." (cf. Mk 7:29) It is with such a faithful response that Jesus had known that a woman's way of life is holy. We have our tests of faith and it is in our responses that our ways of life is determined. Today's Gospel challenges us to respond through what is right in our faith in times it is being tested through trials of life. Let us ask Mother Mary to teach us the way to righteousness through purifying our hearts. #PrayVD

Gospel: Mark 7:14-23 "It is from within, out of a person's heart." (cf. Mk 7:21) What fills our hearts spills in our ways and gives meaning to our life. Jesus aims to enter in our hearts for us to live a righteous life and it is through letting Him in our hearts that gives us the true meaning of our life. May we enable ourselves to be filled by Jesus' love for our lives. #PrayVD

Gospel: Mark 7:1-13 "But their hearts are far from me." (cf. Mk 7:6) In today's Gospel, Jesus was asked why His disciples are not following the tradition of washing hands first before meals. Traditions aren't wrong but sometimes it is in being superficial that halts us in following Jesus thus making our hearts far from Him. Let us ask Mother Mary to teach us the way on how could we follow Jesus so our hearts won't be far away from Him. #PrayVD

Gospel: Mark 6:53-56 "And all who touched Him were healed." (cf. Mk 6:56) Wherever Jesus is, healing happens and this is why people rush towards Him to at least touch His cloak - to touch Him. Today, as we solemnly celebrate the World Day of the Sick, we are reminded that the presence of Jesus is also the presence of healing in our lives. May our Blessed Mother who appeared in Lourdes, France help us acknowledge the presence of Jesus in our lives. #PrayVD

Daily Guidelines: February 10, 2019February 10, 2019 - Sunday
Gospel: Luke 5:1-11 “from now on you will be catching men” How humbling it was for Peter (a fisherman) to be told by Jesus (a carpenter) what to do. Yet this seems to be our tendency. How many times we too feel we know better and we find it hard to trust God. How long before we can really realize, God’s ways our not ours. Sometimes, even his call for our lives to be fishers’ of people, we don’t take seriously because we don’t think we are qualified. Maybe it’s time we listen well to what he’s asking us to do then maybe our world will be a better place. #PrayVD February 9, 2019 - Saturday
Gospel: Mark 6:30-34 “and he began to teach them many things.” In today’s gospel, the Apostles were recounting to Jesus all they did and it included telling him about what happened to John the Baptist and how they took his remains. Maybe this explains why Jesus wanted to be in a lonely place by themselves. How amazing though the way Jesus goes beyond this grief. When he saw the vast crowd, he was moved with compassion and taught them many things. It’s like Jesus telling us, no matter what we are going through, we have the capacity in us to go beyond ourselves and look around the vast crowd and care for those who are also in deep need. #PrayVD February 8, 2019 - Friday
Gospel: Mark 6:14-29 "The head of John the Baptist." If we want to follow Christ, we need to both announce the Good News of Christ and to denounce what is contrary to it. John did this but sadly it cost him his head, his life. Today, we can ask that special grace of courage from God. Sometimes we know we need to open our mouths but we keep silent because we are afraid to offend the other or to lose our face, our reputation, our job, etc. But we realize in the Gospel it is clear, if we truly love God, we would lay down our own image for the sake of what is Good, what is True, what is ok the Gospel. #PrayVD February 7, 2019 - Thursday
Gospel: Mark 6:7-13 Two by Two When Jesus sent out his twelve apostles into mission, he sent them two by two. Sometimes we get scared when we understand that Jesus is calling us to follow him in his mission thinking we will all be by ourselves. From the very beginning, the call to follow Christ was communitarian. May this give us peace that God never sends us alone. We will never carry the burden alone. He will provide all what we need. Lord, help to carry nothing in the journey but only our faith in you. #PrayVD February 6, 2019 - Wednesday
Gospel: Mark 6:1-6 “He was amazed at their lack of faith.” Sometimes the ones who are most familiar with us are the ones who can’t believe the good that can come out of us. Jesus shows us not to be afraid of who we are. We are constantly changing and there will really be a time when we just have to let the people close to us be surprised of what could come out of us. Maybe they will doubt us but Jesus is telling us, “That’s not a problem! Carry on!”. In the gospel, he carried on and was not afraid to be who he was. Holy Spirit, grant us the freedom to let the good in us come out! #PrayVD February 5, 2019 – Tuesday
Gospel: Mark 5:21-43 “Our faith will heal us.” In the series of readings we can notice that Jesus went to different sides of the sea to visit the people who are in need. Up until now Jesus is still visiting each in every one of us because we need Him, because Jesus knows that we are in need of His healing. For us to be healed we must have faith. The woman against the pressing crowd did everything to touch Jesus and then she’s healed. Her faith pushed her to get closer to Jesus. Let us ask the Holy Spirit for the gift of faith so that we may be able to journey in this life always closer to Jesus. #PrayVD |
