Gospel: Mk 1:21-28 “Receive the word of God” In the gospel, you will witness how the word of God works in our life. Word of God are words of teachings. When we live the Word it will make us astonished. In the gospel also, when Jesus speaks we become clean and drives out unclean spirits away. Word of God heals. Receive the word for it gives life to us. Holy Spirit, teach us and open our hearts and mind so that we may receive and live out the Word of God #PrayVD

Gospel: Mk 1:14-20 “This is the time of fulfillment” Jesus shares to us the Kingdom of God and He wants us to take part on its fulfillment. To fulfill it is to follow Jesus and to give love because the true fulfillment of our life is not only to just receive love but to give it. It is when we give ourselves we find our joy complete. Holy Spirit, may you help us see the joy and fulfillment every time we give ourselves and may we give it because of love. #PrayVD

Gospel: Matthew 3:13-17 "This is my son, the Beloved; he is my Chosen One." (cf. Matthew 3:17) Today, we celebrate the feast of the Lord's baptism. As He was baptized, we are affirmed of his identity as the beloved son of God. Our own baptism tells us who we are – our real identity as God's beloved children. Our identity is not being defined by wealth, success, power, social status, our sins and failures. Is by a name pronounced by God in us “my Chosen One”, what it means in our daily life? We are more than we have. We are baptized becoming our true self – our true identity as beloved children of God. Live it! #PrayVD

Gospel: Luke 5:12-16 "Lord if you want to, you can make me clean." (cf. Luke 5:12) In today’s Gospel, a leper came close to Jesus. He had to live away from people because they believed that whoever touches him will become impure. But the Leper has a great courage, recognizing that only Jesus can heal him – believing in Jesus. We can see in today’s Gospel how Jesus was moved with compassion going against the law to be able to cure the leper. Like the leper, do we have the courage to stretch out our hands and reach God asking "Lord if you want to, you can make me clean."? #PrayVD January 9, 2020 Thursday
Gospel: Luke 4:14-22 "The spirit of the Lord is upon me" (cf. Luke 4:18) In today's Gospel, Jesus outlines the challenges he’s facing as the Messiah. Empowered by the spirit, he will bring the good news and proclaim liberty; he will restore sights to the blind and free the imprisoned. As followers of Christ, it is our mission to do the same. We couldn't fulfill our mission to proclaim the Good news without considering all the aspects of life. We have to liberate and remove everything that hinders us from becoming children of God, such us injustice, addiction, sin, poverty, hunger, oppression and to give the freedom, Hope, love that only in Jesus man can have. It is not enough just to be a fan of Christ but we are also called to imitate Him and respond to the mission of bringing the Good news of salvation to all. #PrayVD January 8, 2020 Wednesday
Gospel: Mark 6:45-52 "Courage! It is I; don’t be afraid!" (cf. Mark6:50) Many times we have experienced different storms in life that overwhelm us. It may have been an illness, loss of a loved one, loss of a job, or financial crisis. These storms typically leave us lost, feeling pain. In today's Gospel, we are invited to look deeply for Jesus. He is with us! Let us open our eyes and hearts. We are challenged to have courage and recognize Jesus in the midst of the storm that we are facing. #PrayVD January 7, 2020 Tuesday
Gospel: Mark 6:34-44 "You, yourselves give them something to eat." (cf. Mark 6:27) Time went by and it began to be late and dark. The disciples were concerned and asked Jesus to send the people away because they were sure that in the desert it is impossible to find something to eat for so many people. But Jesus said to them, “You, yourselves give them something to eat.” Jesus doesn't seek solutions from outside but from within. Give what you have. Give what you can give. You don't have to be great, rich or famous for you to be able to give. When we think of feeding the world or the need in the world it can be overwhelming for us. Today's Gospel invites us to give without questioning whether we are enough or not because He will be the one to make it suffice to everyone who needs it. #PrayVD January 6, 2020 Monday
Gospel: Matthew 4: 12-17, 23-25 "The people who lived in darkness have seen a great light." (cf. Matthew 4:16) Jesus was the great light they saw. The imprisonment of John impels Jesus to begin His preaching sending the same message. He knows that it involves risk but he did not allow himself to be frightened. Today's Gospel invites us to be the light shone to those who lived in darkness. Give them the true light, the great light to them which is Jesus. #PrayVD January 5,2020 Sunday
Gospel: Matthew 2:1-12 “And seeing the star they rejoiced with exceeding great joy” Today is the Feast of Epiphany and we are invited to become part of this story. Like the Wise men, we too continues to journey in search for true happiness and meaning. Life May have its ups and down in an effort to find the north star while navigating in the “world”. In the end, having persevered in their search , found themselves in the presence of the child Jesus who enlightened and guided them towards the path of righteousness and pure joy! Lets us not be weary, press on until we reach the finish line . God’s grace be upon us . Amen. #PrayVD January 4,2020 Saturday
Gospel: John 1:35-42 “Come and see” John continues to point his own followers towards Jesus . One of the two who heard John spoke was Andrew . Having encountered Jesus himself, he goes and shares to his brother Simon who then comes to meet Jesus. And more followers after that from those who having experienced Jesus became attracted to his call or vocation. The same is true today to us who had encountered Jesus, may our lives draw others to him. That they too may find their joy, discover and live up their identity - as child of God. Lets us pray for more workers in the vineyard of God . #PrayVD |
