Gospel: Matthew: 15:29-37 “My heart is moved with pity for the crowd.....” He has compassion for the people who have been following Him and had nothing to eat . According to the disciples, the solution must come from outside: “Where to find bread to feed so many people?” According to Jesus, the solution must come from inside the people through His help: ”with 5 loaves of bread and fish, Jesus satisfies the hunger of all, and there are even some left over. If today people would share what they have, there would be no hunger in the world. Many things would be left over! Truly, another world is possible! Do I have the same compassion that Jesus has for me and the rest of mankind? Do I lead the lost and the least back to Jesus that they may be comforted? May we be made more compassionate and giving, more generious of whatever we have, big or small, little or plenty. #PrayVD

Gospel: Luke 10:21-24 “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see.” Blessed are our eyes that see beyond the physical, eyes that see with wisdom , which see in the spiritual realm. Those matters which the prophets of long ago could not see or understand, yet we are able to see as long as with childlike openness. St Paul wrote, "I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you may know the hope to which God has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints" (Ephesians 1:18). And again, "This is my prayer, that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight" (Philippians 1:9).... This is the true second sight: insight. We pray to the Holy Spirit that we may be enlightened to see what God wants us to see in all the things of the physical world. #PrayVD

Gospel: Matthew 8:5-11 “Amen I say to you, in no one in Israel have I found such faith.” How do we define or measure our faith? Jesus asks us “Do you believe that I can do this?” Faith is knowing that He can do anything, even move mountains, heal the unhealable, and we are able to overcome any challenges , without fear. Are you able to find joy in our moments of weakness? This is such a great obstacle to our faith: the anxiety, the worries that overwhelm us, our hesitancy to surrender completely to His will. Let us find ways to strengthen our faith, by being consistently “faithful” and obedient. Are we... full of faith? Do we practice it and is it seen in our daily manner of living, and speak about it? Our courage stems from a deep sense of faith, that no matter what we face, Jesus will lead us through it. Let us lead others too through the same path. Let us be like Mary and call on her for assistance, whose quiet demeanor, has given her strength of belief, and has carried her through so many trials. #PrayVD

Gospel: Mt 4:18-22 Come and follow me! - Mt 4:19 Where are you at this moment? Physically and spiritually? Our gospel today is about Jesus inviting his disciples to be fishers of men. Simon and Andrew followed Jesus at once while James and John left their boat immediately upon hearing Jesus invitation. Likewise, we are invited by Jesus to come and follow him. Will you follow at once and immediately? Or do we have other things that pre-occupies us in following Him today? Mother Mary, we pray that our hearts be open to Jesus invitation today in following His ways today. #PrayVD

Gospel: Lk 21:29-33 My words will not pass away - Lk 21:33 How is your prayer life this week? Was it fruitful? Or not? Jesus talks about a fig tree and all other trees that will become fruitful in the end. We are invited today to identify the fruits of what we have been hearing in His words this week. Whatever it is that you are praying or reflecting on, Jesus assures you that it will happen, and it will bear fruit. His words will not pass away even if you are in the dry season. Mama Mary, we pray that our prayer life bear fruit in whatever stage of life we are right now. #PrayVD

Daily Guidelines: November 28, 2019November 28, 2019 Thursday
Gospel: Lk 21:20-28 Your redemption is at hand - Lk 21:28 What will happen before the coming of the Messiah? Our gospel today clearly narrates the happening of realities that can threaten us desolation, vengeance, circumstances where the scripture is call to be fulfilled. Jesus invites us to “Stand erect and raise your heads!” to continue persevering, believing in Him, in His promise. May we not falter with what is happening in our world nowadays but instead hope that our restoration is at hand. Mama Mary, we pray for a strong faith like yours that is never shaken in the midst of the situations we see face. #PrayVD

Gospel: Lk 21:12-19 By perseverance you will secure your lives - Lk 21:9 We tend to choose the comfortable path. Where there are no traffic, conflict or negative people to deal with. Today in our Gospel, Jesus reminds us that the challenges we face leads us to the “giving testimony”. We shall persevere and intensify our prayer in these times. His words will be our sword against the adversaries we have in our lives. Mama Mary, we pray for a perseverance that trusts in Jesus words, a sustained prayer life that will secure us in our troubling times. Amen. #PrayVD

Daily Guidelines: November 26, 2019November 26, 2019 Tuesday
Gospel: Lk 21:5-11 Do not be terrified; for such things must happen first but it will not immediately be the end - Lk 21:9 We are surrounded with alarming news about crimeas, climate change, storms and earthquakes. With this kind of news, we are filled with fear and terror for the things that may come. In our gospel, Jesus tells the people that the signs of times should not deceive us into thinking it is the end of the world. Instead, we must know who God is amidst all of this: “I am he.” “Do not follow them! Do not be terrified!” Mother Mary, help us pray for a heart that is brave and full of trust to the will of God in what is happening to the world of today. #PrayVD

Gospel: Lk 21:1-4 All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on. – Lk 21:4 No one wants to live poorly, right? We all want to live comfortably that’s why we work so hard to meet our daily needs. In our gospel today, Jesus gives a strong and contrasting image on how we can truly honor and offer something for Him. It is to offer the poor things and not of extravagant nor wealthy things. The poor widow offered what she has: poverty. It is in what we lack, what can be deficiency in us, what we can consider scarcity, in reality is our richness. Do you offer what you have, who you are to Jesus? Today, we are invited to reflect and acknowledge our poverty and humbly offer it to the Lord so it will be sufficient. Amen. #PrayVD |
