Lk 11:29-32 Something greater than Solomon is here What does it mean to have wisdom? The Bible tells us that Solomon was the wisest king of all, because he asked the Lord for wisdom and it was granted (1Kings 3:9). It is learning to see beyond the obvious and recognizing the Lord. In today’s reading, the Jews did not recognize Christ as the Savior. Their prejudice and pride prevented them from gaining the wisdom to see. Lord, help us to become truly wise by seeing Christ's daily work of miracles in our lives and around us. #PrayVD

Gospel: Luke 17:11-19 “ Stand up and go, your faith has saved you.” Here is a sample story of 10 lepers who were healed, yet only 1 came back to thank Jesus. Are we like those 9, pleading when we’re sick, yet forgetting to say thank you when healed? We have to be steadfast in our faithfulness to the Lord, come high and low water, constant in our faith radar, no discouragements. When feeling low, say the Rosary, visit the Adoration Chapel, cry if we must. But stay close to the Lord, no demands, no bribing, no ex-deals ( we do that sometimes). Let’s ask Mama Mary to help us in our journey, let’s imitate her humility and faithfulness. #PrayVD

Gospel: Luke 11:27-28 “Blessed are those who hear the Word of God and observe it.” Many of us are hardheaded and resist following what God wills in our lives. We refuse to live it out since it’s difficult, feeling like we’re in a straight jacket all the time, we do not see the “freedom” He promised. But as soon as we learn and get to know Him more, we see His wisdom. He didn’t say that there will be no more suffering, but we accept whatever challenges we face. This is the freedom He speaks to us about. Let us learn to abandon to Him completely our past, present and future. May your will be done, Lord, whatever it may please you. #PrayVD

Gospel: Luke 11:15-26 “Whoever is not with Me is against Me, and whoever does not gather with Me scatters.” As we learn to follow Jesus, not only will we be open to him, but we will also be open to goodness. Goodness that has the eye for those people who are suffering and has the heart to help them. This life is not only about our individual selves. It’s about the other people surrounding us waiting for our help just like how Jesus waits for us to come back to him. Let’s help bring them back. Help us in our journey, Lord, and guide us always. #PrayVD

Gospel: Luke 11:5-13 “And I tell you, ask and you will receive, seek and you will find, knock and it shall be opened unto you.” Perseverance in prayer is what Jesus is telling us. Develop a deep faith so we can remain steadfast in prayer. When we want something, we visualize it first, then take steps on how to achieve it, then claim it as if it were ours already. And pray, as hard as we can, and not allow discouragement to step in. We sacrifice, with grave determination and willpower. Consistently...and not allow detours to distract us. We must not be shaken..We must find joy in the pursuit of our goals.. And wait for the Lord to surprise and delight us with his gift ! #PrayVD

Gospel: Luke 11:1-4 “ Lord, teach us to pray.” When the disciples asked this of Jesus, they were probably at a loss for words on how to ask and what to ask from God. This happens to us too, not knowing how and what to say. Jesus gave them/ us a prayer that was all encompassing: giving glory to God, pleading for a piece of heaven while on earth, pleading for daily food, learn to forgive while asking for forgiveness, and lead them through the straight path to Him. A prayer so simple a child can say it. As we pray the Our Father, let us consciously say the words clearly, slowly, and feel the meaning of each word sincerely. #PrayVD

Daily Guidelines: October 8, 2019October 8, 2019 – Tuesday
Gospel: Luke 10:38-42 “Martha, Martha, do not be anxious and worried about so many things.” We see here Martha as the active part of our persona and Mary as the contemplative one. We can’t choose simply by being one and not be concerned with the other part. We choose to be both at the same time: we all need to work yet attend to our spiritual needs, thus a balance is required. Working is a form of prayer if we offer our chores and tasks to the Lord, performing at our best always. We pray that our financial needs are met, we pray that our business or job meet our family’s needs, we seek God’s guidance in every task that is demanded of us. We pray that we are continualy close to the Lord and not be led away from this relationship. #PrayVD

Daily Guidelines: October 7, 2019October 7, 2019 – Monday
Gospel: Luke 10:25-37 “The man who treated him with mercy. Go and do likewise.” We are familiar with the parable of the Good Samaritan, who took pity on the poor man and had him treated of his wounds. Most often, we are guilty of passing by a homeless person on the street, with not much compassion but more of disdain and contempt. We cross the street just to avoid breathing the same air as he. It takes a lot of courage and love to approach someone so unloveable, much so if he has open wounds coming out of his every pore: physical sores, wounds from lack of love, and abandonment, ignorance or societal negligence. Let us bring more wounded neighbors to the “inn” – the Church – that they be healed and cared for. In this feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, let us seek Mama Mary’s help for us to be more deeply touched by our neighbors’ plight. #PrayVD

Gospel: Lk 10:13-16 And whoever rejects me, rejects the one who sent me For this First Friday of the month, Jesus invites us to ponder on his words "whoever rejects me, rejects the one who sent me". What are the instances or tendencies that you have rejected the will of Jesus and of the Father in your life? How did you feel with the actions you took? Today, we pray for forgiveness, for the many times we have rejected Jesus in the daily situations we face. Amen. #PrayVD

Gospel: Lk 10:1-12 Peace to this household Peace is a gift from God. Today, Jesus encourages us to receive this gift in the Eucharist and to give to the household and place of where we are called to serve our mission. As disciples, the peace we carry on can inspire other people to seek Christ in their lives. Mama Mary, may we learn from you how to seek to be living at peace with God and with others always and in all circumstances of life. Amen. #PrayVD |
