Gospel: Mt 21: 28-32 "My boy, go and work in the vineyard today." God is always inviting us to work for him. But it depends on us if we accept it or not. The truth is working for God is not easy because we should sacrifice some of our time and strength. But God assures us that if we accept his invitation we have a place in his kingdom. Like the tax collectors and prostitutes who are making their way to the kingdom of God because they believed in Him through John the Baptist. Oh Lord God give us encouragement and strength so we may say yes to your invitation and to work for your kingdom. Amen. #PrayVD

Gospel Matthew 21:23-27 Who gave you this authority? In this Gospel the chief priests and the elders of the people asked Jesus 'What authority have you for acting like this? And who gave you this authority?' In reply Jesus said to them, 'And I will ask you a question, just one; if you tell me the answer to it, then I will tell you my authority for acting like this. John's baptism: what was its origin, heavenly or human? In the end they did not answer. Sometimes we asked ourselves why do we do these things? Like helping, giving, caring and etc. Maybe because these are we want to do or maybe this is our mission? We doubt ourselves because we worry about what other people think of us. But still let us not hesitate to do good for others despite the circumstances. #PrayVD

Gospel: John 1:68, 19–28 "He came to testify to the light." (cf. John 1:8) Today, as we celebrate this joyous Sunday of Advent, the Gospel inspires us with the greatness of the life of John the Baptist and how he faithfully testified to the light. Such faith when received from God removes all the fears of today leading only towards joyful service. May we be like John the Baptist who faithfully testified to the light in spite of persecutions. #PrayVD

Gospel: Luke 1:39–47 "My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord." (cf. Luke 1:46) Todays Gospel shows us the joy of Mary and Elizabeth in expressing the greatness of the Lord and sharing the graces that He has blessed them. Truly, it is such a joy to express how the greatness of the Lord blesses us in our lives and it is a miracle how such joy blesses also the people around us. May we also have that same joy that Mary and Elizabeth had in accepting the graces of the Lord in our lives. #PrayVD

Gospel: Matthew 11:16–19 "But wisdom is vindicated by her works." (cf. Matthew 11:19) In todays Gospel, Jesus comments on how people end up on living ironically and how they criticize those who righteously live their lives. It is inevitable to be amazed on thinking how attitudes of old continue to be passed on from generations to generations. At present we could vividly see the same thing narrated in the Gospel happening in our society the wicked trying to disgrace the righteous and vindicate their unjust works. But let this be a call for us to courageously live out our faith in spite of the presence of critics who only notice the moments of our fall. May we have the same courage that John the Baptist has displayed in facing those who persecuted him. #PrayVD

Gospel: Matthew 11:11–15 "Yet the least in the Kingdom of heaven is greater than he." (cf. Matthew 11:11) In our baptism, we are called to be prophets and to live our lives proclaiming the truth of our faith. In todays Gospel, Jesus highly praised John the Baptist in living out the call of God to him by being the prophet who would prepare the way of the Lord. And yet, Jesus gave this also as a challenge to everyone to live out their call to be prophets and be greater than him. May we have the courage to live out our call to be prophets and proclaim the truths of the Kingdom of God. #PrayVD

Gospel: Matthew 11:28–30 "Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest." (cf. Matthew 11:28) We may have been restless in the past months trying to be safe from any illnesses, coping up with the on-going crisis, and holding on to our sanity as we face the daily challenges of life. Restless may our hearts be but not our God who cares about us every day. Today God is calling us to come to him, to lay our burdens and rest in Him. May we find ourselves resting in the love of God as we entrust our life to His ways. #PrayVD

Gospel: Luke 1:26–38 "May it be done to me according to your word." (cf. Luke 1:38) Today as we celebrate the solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Church reminds us how Mary faithfully accepted the will of God to her to become the mother of Jesus. Her yes, in turn, began plan of God towards the salvation of man from sins. May we be inspired to have the same faith that Mary has shown in accepting the will of God to our lives. Amen. #PrayVD

Gospel: Luke 5:17–26 "We have seen incredible things today." (cf. Luke 5:26) Todays Gospel narrates to how Jesus promptly forgives and miraculously heals a paralyzed man while the Pharisees and teachers of the law question His authority. Forgiveness frees a heart from its sins and heals a person from the agony it causes. It is such a blessing how God graciously gave this capacity to us an authority to heal one another from the afflictions of sins. This season of Advent, let us practice this capacity to forgive those who may have wronged us so their burdened hearts will be healed and also be ready for the coming of Jesus in their lives this Christmas. #PrayVD

Mk 1:1-8 “Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight His paths” How are we preparing the way of the Lord? In this season of advent, we are invited to prepare the way of the Lord so that the people around us will joyfully welcome Jesus in their lives. In our little ways we are able to straighten Jesus’ path towards the hearts of many. If we had a conflict with someone, we do our best to reconcile with the person because it could be hard to welcome Jesus joyfully with a hurting heart. We could be encouraging others so that they may be full of hope in life. A hopeless heart might reject Jesus in his life. As we pray on this passage, let us reflect on what can we do to prepare the way of the Lord so that we will welcome Jesus joyfully in our hearts. Mama Mary, help us as we prepare the way of the Lord and let our hearts be filled with joy. #PrayVD |
