Gospel: John14:1-6 “I am the Way the Truth and the Life. No one can come to the Father except through me” John 14:6 Did you vote? Did you stand for the Truth? And, what is the truth? Is it relative to ...what? The truth is that you are the Son of God. As such you carry his DNA of love. You got to be his spitting image! You are Beloved, Gifted, Empowered. That is the truth about you . Stand Firm! Grow in confidence of your identity -- You are made from Love. Your life is for loving. May the cross of Jesus give you all the courage you need to keep going, keep sowing the seed of love. #PrayVD

Gospel: John13:16-20 “Whoever welcomes me, welcomes the one who sent me” Jn13:20 Jesus presented himself earlier as the Good Shepherd and in a debate with the Jewish leaders he made claim, “I and the Father are one” Jn10:30. Jesus lived in perfect oneness with the Father and even tells us whoever has seen him has seen the Father. And so when we come to pray to Jesus, we encounter the Face of God. It is God’s love that breathes unto us . He desires always to draw us closer unto him. Come to him and be refreshed! #PrayVD

Gospel: John12:44-50 “Whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness” Jn12:46 “I know that his commandment is eternal life, and that is why the message I give as the Father instructed me.” The face of love himself wanting the best for each one of us. However, he gives man the freedom to make choices. Between light and darkness, life or death. Choose light ! Choose love! “Lets us put on the whole armour of God, that we may be able to stand the test of evil.” Ep6:11 #PrayVD

Gospel: John15:9-17 “This is my command: LOVE each other” Jn15:17 I have told you this, that my own joy may be in you, and your joy may be complete! What a beautiful assurance if only we stick it out with Jesus -- by keeping the commandments. So what makes it difficult to LOVE? “It was I who CHOSE you”. Can we also do the same each moment, each day? To CHOOSE to Love? Mama Mary, you chose to remain standing at the foot of the cross. May we too take the daily option to choose the cross. Amen. #PrayVD

Gospel: John10:1-10 “My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” Jn10:10 Indeed life is full of contrasts. The thief who takes away life vs. Jesus who gives life. He re-introduced himself to us as the Good Shepherd who LEADS, PROTECTS and PROVIDES to those who listen and follow his voice. The life he gives is abundantly rich and full! We’re not talking about material richness, rather Eternal life! It is here, now! Life in Christ is on a higher plane because of his forgiveness and love for humanity. He invites us today to set our eyes on the cross where we will find direction, destination. There is no greater gift at Easter than Jesus himself! Today, let us draw closer to Jesus who is our gate to a fulfilled life. He is enough! #PrayVD

Gospel: John 10:27-30 “No one can take them out of My hand.” - cf Jn 10:28 Today, Good Shepherd Sunday, we celebrate the immense love of Jesus to us, His sheep. He knows us and assures us that with Him, we shall never perish. He leads us away from the wolves of temptation, and rescues us and lead us back when we are lost. How great it is to imagine Him holding our hands, leading us to find the good pasture. Jesus, give us wisdom to choose the good shepherds who will lead our country as we vote tomorrow. May You guide those who will be elected to the path of humble service and love. #PrayVD

Gospel: John 6:60-69 “This saying is hard; who can accept it?” - cf Jn 6:60 Sometimes in prayer, we may be challenged by Jesus to speak up for the truth. And many times in obeying Him, we may not please everyone. As an old saying goes, “Truth hurts.” But we must also remember that “The truth will set us free”. True prayer is hearing not only what we want to hear, but to hear God’s truth. Jesus Himself was left by many of His disciples upon hearing His words. But He did not let this affect Him. Mother Mary, help us to carry the necessary pain as we stand up for the Truth. #PrayVD

Gospel: John 6:52-59 “So you will have life because of Me.”- cf Jn 6:57 Was there a moment when you feel that life is a blur? That you are just merely gliding, passing through, with no definite meaning or purpose? Jesus today reminds us that during these moments we may just need to reconnect with the true source of life. No fad diet, unli-buffet or energy drink will be enough to fill that innate hunger. True nourishment comes only from Jesus. So let us feed ourselves daily with His word through prayer, and let us invigorate our passive lives with the active love that Christ provides. #PrayVD

Daily Guidelines: May 9, 2019May 9, 2019 Thursday
Gospel: John 6:44-51 "They shall all be taught by God.” - cf Jn 6:45 In today’s Gospel Jesus explains that faith begins by being drawn by the Father. He approaches us and reveals Himself to us in subtle ways- through our parents or colleagues, acquaintances or strangers, achievements or failures, happy memories or gruesome trials. Each moment is a teaching moment with God. He is an intimate God who knows us from within. Quoting St. Augustine, “The Lord is closer to us than we are to ourselves”. Therefore we must strive to find Him in every situation we are in, and to say with conviction, “My Father is here. He is present within me.” #PrayVD

Gospel: John 6:35-40 "I will not reject anyone who comes to me.” - cf Jn 6:37 The gospel today somewhat reminds us of the Repentant Thief, who even on his last day on earth, was showered by Christ’s mercy. How beautiful it is to see Jesus always spreading His arms wide to embrace us- despite all our shortcomings, no matter how far we’ve drifted apart from Him. Such is Jesus’ promise, that whoever comes to Him will never hunger or thirst. Is it even possible to imagine a world without hunger? Jesus invites us to help alleviate hunger simply by bringing others closer to Him. Can you do your share today? #PrayVD |
